Renewable Energy

Many energy companies are investing in a sustainable future due to growing demand for green energy. British Gas have the lowest CO2 emissions of any major UK energy supplier, and are planning for a sustainable future by investing in renewable energy and helping each customer reduce their carbon footprint. The main way in which British Gas are investing in renewable energy is through offshore wind farms, with in the intention to take advantage of the huge wind resource available around the coastlines.  Another innovative direction that British Gas has taken is through the exploration of micro-generation technologies, which includes boilers that can provide the usual hot water and central heating for your house, but also provide electricity. These boilers intend to reduce energy bills and cut greenhouse gases. These efforts to reduce emissions have been recognised by the WWF-UK – the Centrica group is also featured in the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World Index.
